After a fateful sleepover at the abandoned Thornton estate Jessalyn Thornton has come up MISSING!  This was supposed to be her celebration before her wedding.  But the excitement and enjoyment ended when she all of the sudden cannot be found.

Some family will try to be helpful, while others do not even want to discuss with you (Nancy) about the dim past of the estate.  Her family desperately wants her to come home and are searching for clues to what has happened.  You will wonder if someone is keeping her out of sight, or is there possibly something from “beyond” has taken Jessalyn away.  You will start to wonder what it is all about, who is responsible? Where has Jessalyn gotten to?

So the question is…. do you dare to play? Before you do so make sure you watch the video below.

The premise of the game is to gather clues to figure out what has happened to Jesslyn Thornton. Also, you need to solve/find out about the truth of the ghost of Thornton Hall.  During play, you will get to chat with different characters, and the games allow you to ask each character a different set of questions.

For example, you might be able to ask one question, let them answer, then it offers a couple other questions to choose from OR you can tell them you are going on your way now.  If you need to revisit that character they will be right where you found them before.

Certain actions You Must Complete in order to Find Your Clues.

If you need to use say a broken cell phone, you will have to gather the items needed in order to do so.  So this is when you will walk around inside of the house or outside on the porch, or cemetery to look for the items needed to complete the task you are working on.

About Nancy Drew: The Ghost of Thornton Hall Itself

With this game, you will enjoy point and click with your mouse or pad on your computer.  As we know with anything Nancy Drew this is in the adventure/mystery genre.  If your daughter or son enjoys being a detective then this game will keep them busy trying to sleuth out the answers to clues.

One of the things I really love about Nancy Drew is she is a strong female character.  I grew up reading her books and always loved the plots and her always saving the day.  This game is no different as Nancy is the one trying to solve the mystery (with your help).  The characters are great, and it feels like you are actually interacting with them. You will find it is played in the first-person point of view, so as Nancy you are in control of where you go, and what things you work on first.  There are subtle hints offered, and if something isn’t correct, or you can’t do an action yet, Nancy will say “still need to do that”, or “not right now”.  So that you know you have to keep looking.

The settings are so realistic that while playing you will feel like you are part of the game.  The graphics have been done wonderfully and there is nothing chintzy about it.  You won’t feel like you are reading a mystery but rather are part of the mystery.  To say the least, the graphics are just beautiful, rich and feel real.

My Thoughts on this Game

When the game starts you will see that Nancy Drew wakes up to a phone call during the night.  Jesslyn Thornton has gone missing during a prewedding scavenger type hunt.  Because we know Nancy is the Best at solving all things mysteries.  It makes perfect sense that she be called upon to help.

I haven’t completed the game yet, as there is so much to find, and figure out.  I have been working on it steadily though and can’t wait to solve the mystery! I have encountered a ghost or apparition of sorts but when I went after it, it had disappeared.  I keep looking though and gathering all of my clues.

I have enjoyed walking room to room to find clues that will help me solve the mystery.  I have walked around quite a few times and it seems like there are clues there that weren’t there before.

I wasn’t sure if I would like playing it on my computer but I actually do! It is great to have a bigger screen than my phone to look at all I can while going from room to room.

This game is rated for ages 10 and above.  I probably could play it with my granddaughter who is almost 8 but I do not think she would handle playing it on her own.  You can get it for Windows, Mac, and iPad too.  This game also comes with a free strategy guide.  When you order you can download it right away and if you want the disc you can add that to your purchase for safe keeping.

Don’t wait because you will want to start solving this mystery as soon as possible.

Becky

Wife, mother, grandma, blogger, all wrapped into one person, although it does not define her these are roles that are important to her. Entering into their 'empty nest' stage in life, Becky, and her husband Roger are learning to live with their youngest away at school more than not. Becky enjoys way too many TV programs but her favorites are normally criminal based or something to make her laugh. Keep an eye out because 2018 is going to be her year!

Just in time for Halloween. How awesome is this! I loved Nancy Drew growing up (yes I still love her)! But How cool will this be to share with my oldest niece?

I remember reading the Nancy Drew books as a kid. It’s great to see the character making a bit of a comeback, lol. The game sounds fun.
