Morning Detox is a Lot More Than Having a Glass of Warm Water

Morning Detox

Mornings allow you to create a new beginning by eliminating a bad yesterday. Morning detox came in with the same idea, so you can clean your body regularly inside out. This offers an energy boost to get you through the day. The effectiveness of your morning detox ritual depends on how many toxins you’re able to release. You may limit the junk entering your body by drinking from a glass or stainless steel container, and avoiding plastics.

But, detox is not one single task, but a regime that involves simple things to help your body’s natural filter, the liver, to do its job better. If you are a no juice-no fasting person, here are cleansing moves you can do in the dawns:

Wake up and find a lemon

If you are having warm water daily, then try squeezing fresh lemon in it and have it as the first thing in the morning as you wake up. This is for the reason that our body loses water overnight while performing its own detoxification mechanism. So, it’s important to hydrate and replenish once you wake up. Further, adding lemon juice will help your liver produce more enzymes, which aids digestion and prompts the liver to purge toxins. And how can you say no to the vitamin C in lemon juice which is a powerful antioxidant that can protect your system against free radicals, strengthening the immune system?

Get moving

Don’t start hunting for food. Studies show that one can burn up to 20% more body fat by exercising in the morning on an empty stomach. If not rigorous workouts, try twisting your body by yoga poses that can help with the detox process by stimulating digestion and elimination. Stress causes a lot of digestive discomforts and what can be better than yoga to calm you down?

Sip tea, but not the regular one

Teas containing dandelion, horsetail or milk thistle have become a healthy person’s choice. Such tea infusions may boost liver function, helping to decrease the build-up of toxins in the tissues. They are hence called Detox tea which is a gentler approach to detoxification. They will help you shed the morning laziness, look refreshing and even kick start your weight loss efforts. There are many tea blends which you can choose from as per your taste and preference or make it on your own.

Brush your body

Keep a soft-bristle brush for dry brushing your skin. This has two main benefits: it helps your skin to unclog pores from old cells as well as debris and enabling the skin to perspire freely. It also stimulates the circulation beneath your skin to keep it healthy. Always brush the skin when it’s dry, and follow with a hot shower to wash off the dead cells which takes us to the next point.

Hop in the tub

Detox baths are famous amongst the Japanese, but you can enjoy the same cleansing in your tub. Try adding Epsom salts in the water for its nourishing benefits. For those who haven’t heard of it before, Epsom salt contains magnesium, as well as other minerals and nutrients that are absorbed into your skin during the bath, and can help with detoxification processes. This mineral specifically helps to kick up action in the colon, prompting the body to eliminate backed up waste.

Broccoli brunch

By now you must be hungry, so fill your plate with sulfur-rich foods, such as onions, garlic, and cruciferous vegetables, including broccoli, kale, collard greens, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower. These foods are high in antioxidants which support the body’s ability to fight off toxins and even help to reduce chronic inflammation. Make yourself a king like breakfast out of these most cruciferous vegetables.

The cleaner and more healthfully you keep your body, the greater the benefits you will enjoy in life.
