CANNES (11 May 2016)—Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, stars of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Trolls set the perfect tone on the first day of the 69th Cannes Film Festival, surprising a capacity audience in the Théâtre Claude Debussy at the Palais des Festivals with an acoustic rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors,” which will be featured in the film’s soundtrack.  The performance followed a 20-minute preview of the film presented by DreamWorks CEO and co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, the  director Mike Mitchell, and co-director Walt Dohrn. Also in attendance were Trolls producer Gina Shay, DreamWorks Animation co-president of feature animation Mireille Soria, and 20th Century Fox CEO Jim Gianopulos.

Katzenberg commented: “Our presentation today highlighted the animating strengths of Trolls: the unique and innovative world created by Mike, Walt and the creative team, the brilliant soundtrack produced by Justin Timberlake, and the incredible voice talents of Anna, Justin and the rest of the cast.  While today was a huge success, we are even more confident that Trolls will delight audiences when it arrives in theaters.”

Following the presentation, Timberlake and Kendrick embarked on a speedboat and arrived in style at the Carlton pier, appearing alongside the models participating in a special movie themed fashion show on the pier. Guests of the DreamWorks-hosted Trolls tea at the adjacent Carlton Beach Restaurant were treated to the spectacle of the red carpet and fashion show, featuring models with brightly colored, gravity-defying hair created for they show by global long hair maestro Patrick Cameron and bespoke fashions by Patrick’s designer and collaborator Marco Erbi.

Soria said: “Today’s activities provided only a small taste of the brightness, happiness and positivity of Trolls.  Bonnie Arnold and I couldn’t be more thrilled that the collaborative efforts of DreamWorks’s unparalleled team of artists have received such a tremendous reaction in front of the Cannes audience.”

Added Shay: “Mike, Walt and I only wish we could have shared this experience with the entire creative team. We were truly heartened by the positive feedback, and look forward to sharing this movie with the world later this year.”
