Oh my gosh! I just finished watching “The Jungle Book”.  I do not want to give away too much although many know the story, there are parts of the movie that made me jump, then laugh and at times feel a bit sad.

Favorite characters? Well in the animated movie I had special feelings about all but Kaa, but in this version, I actually loved Kaa too, maybe because Kaa was played by Scarlett Johansson.  The cute little Mowgli played by Neel Sethi is just adorable.  He played his part perfectly and at times I forgot that he was not the cute, little, animated character but a little boy that is a talented actor. One of the scenes that tugged at my heart was when Mowgli leaves the “pack” and what transpired between the Mom Wolf “Raksha” voiced by the talented Lupita Nyong’o.  Mowgli also shows humor when he is with Bagheera voiced by Ben Kingsley talking about why he wasn’t supposed to go to the man-village.  These are just two of my favorite scenes.

Another part of this movie that I enjoyed was all of the scenery that was shown.  The calm of the water while Mowgli and Baloo floated down the water to the grace of Kaa when slithering across the branches. There is so much that goes into a movie like this and I am able to appreciate it ever since I saw how a few other movies were made when I have visited LA for prior press trips.

The Jungle Book -Mogli and Kaa

There is just so much about The Jungle Book I loved as a child which then I passed on to my children and now my grandchildren. I will admit at this point I won’t be sharing this movie with my granddaughter.  She isn’t quite 6 and possibly she would be fine but I just don’t feel I want to be the one that takes that chance.  I think the ages that should watch this should be decided by a parent or guardian.  You know your child better than I do.

This movie is rated PG so parental guidance is suggested.  What I always mention in my reviews is if a movie is questionable to you, it is always best to possibly watch it before watching it with your child(ren).
